Teach It Better · About
Teach It Better is written by Justin Hoy, a Vermont dean of students. It comes from 28 years of work with young people, not from a workshop.
That work has run the length of a school: direct behavior support, prevention and youth-services direction, restorative-practices coordination and specialist roles, and now a school-wide dean of students. It has spanned elementary, middle, and high schools, and community youth programs.
The through-line has stayed the same. Relationships first. Dignity held. Accountability that teaches. The frameworks behind Teach It Better were read, tested, and reconciled over years of practice. The Handbook and guides are the result, offered free for school use.
